Is there any update regarding this? I was looking for adding the nRF5 Connect SDK as git submodule too.

Any updates on this Øyvind? It has been >2 years now. It will make everyone's life easier if the SDK source code was on a repository we could all pull from (github or any other server), this way we could see the changeset, and add our own local changes to it in our local system, and have multiple projects access the latest and greatest!

Just wanted to add my support for this notion. The ability to add the SDK as a git submodule would be splendid.

We are considering options to be able to bring the SDK to github. We are working on getting the licensing in order to do so.

I second this suggestion. For licensing reasons, Nordic may not be able to put it on github. But they can host their own git repo which people can pull from. The current zip file scheme is very clunky and it's not easy to pull/push bug fixes easily. There are issues that have been broken for a while and continuous releases via git could have fixed them with much less frustration.
