&lt;p&gt;major revision numbers of SDK indicates usually that there are API changes present.
This is most commonly triggered a major release/update of a SoftDevice - which again have API changes reflected in SDK.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I would recommend that you look into SoftDevice specification and changelog to supported SoftDevice in an SDK to understand features present in the supported stacks.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The release notes of the SDK gives the highlights of the release.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If you want to migrate from one major version to a new, you should have a look into the migration guide present in the SDK releases from v13.0.&lt;/p&gt;
