Main problem is like IAR uses jlink version 5.12 (in this version nrf52840 is not defined) even if latest jlink version 6.14b is installed in my system.

I just had this problem. Reprogramming softdevice with nRFgo fixed it.

It is working fine after making following settings: Project > Options > Debugger > Extra Options and specify: --drv_vector_table_base=0x00020000

What does this warning of incorrect alignment look like? Is it the same warning as shown in this post?

Does the program work even if the warning is there? What version of IAR is this? Have you tried to download the latest Segger drivers ?

Try setting the start address in the linker config in IAR. Select the project, click on Project-> Options -> Linker -> Edit. Shown in the picture here:

You changed the __ICFEDIT_region_ROM_start__ to 0x00020000 in blinky_iar_nRF5x.icf ?

i have changed the linker address to 0x00020000. Since i have changed that address from 0x00 to 0x00020000 i could flash it only if softdevice is already present on flash. But if softdevice does not present before i flash blinky IAR gives me warning of incorrect alignment

The blinky_pca10040 does not use the SoftDevice S132, and will be flashed to flash start address 0x00. If you have flashed the SoftDevice S132 to your nRF52-DK, you should use the project blinky_pca10040_s132.

Which of the blinky examples is this? the one in the folder peripheral\blinky? or in the folder experimental_ble_app_blinky?

If it is peripheral\blinky, are you using blinky_pca10040 or blinky_pca10040_s132?

What SDK version are you using? What SoftDevice version are you using? What example in the SDK are you trying to flash?
