I built a simple I2C application for the LMP91000 and I was successfully able to configure it to read the status register.
However, I tested to see if I could use pin 6 and 7 for SCL and SDA respectively. However, when I did, nothing happened

RE: TWI SCL and SDA pins 7 and 6 not working on NRF52

Now resolved due to delving deep into the documentation and config options. If you have this problem, try turning off NRF_LOG_BACKEND_SERIAL_USES_UART in the sdk_config.h. For some reason this causes this weird issue where it works backwards but not the other way.

RE: TWI SCL and SDA pins 7 and 6 not working on NRF52

@electronics111: There are no known issues with P0.06 and P0.07 regarding TWI.

RE: TWI SCL and SDA pins 7 and 6 not working on NRF52

Clearly it IS a defect, I have the exact same problem with default (example twi) code, why else would it work with the pins one way round but not the other?!!

RE: TWI SCL and SDA pins 7 and 6 not working on NRF52

of course it's not a defect on the nrf52832, all the pins work perfectly for TWI and other functions. So you have a bug in your code or a hardware issue outside the chip.

RE: TWI SCL and SDA pins 7 and 6 not working on NRF52

Hi

I have the same problem. The twi pin assignment like yours.
The only difference is I use pure nrf52832, not development kit.
P0.7->SCL, P0.6->SDA, and the setting not working.

But when I switch pin assignment, P0.7->SDA, P0.6->SCL.
And it works!!

And I also try (P0.8->SCL, P0.6->SDA) & (P0.7->SCL, P0.5->SDA), the twi function not working too.

I guess it is a defect on nrf52832.
Can any body confirm this issue?

RE: TWI SCL and SDA pins 7 and 6 not working on NRF52

By 'NRF52' I assume you mean 'nRF52 development kit' because the chip itself (nRF52832) doesn't care what you use the pins for.

The manual covers this when talking about the interface MCU. If you don't connect a terminal to the virtual COM port the lines are tri-stated so they should have no effect on anything else using them. There are also solder bridges you can cut to entirely disconnect the interface UART from the pins. Of course you need to solder them back if you want to use that again.

Best solution is not to use those pins on the development board, there's plenty of other ones you can use.
