&lt;p&gt;Have you started the LFCLK before starting the application timer? When the softdevice is enabled it will handle the clock for you, but when you have disabled it you need to start the clock yourself. Please have a look at the &lt;a href="https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/tutorials/19/"&gt;application timer tutorial&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
