I ported my software to use SDK 15.0 and SoftDevice 6.0. I have confirmed that the latest Nordic SW resolved the excessive current consumption issue!

Hi,

We have found some issues with the CC310 library and are performing fixes. The new CC310 library will be released as a part of the next SDK. The new CC310 library should solve the power consumption issues.

Is there a solution to the problem? I notice the same issue.

When I do not turn on the cryptocell at all, my application consumes 0.8mA.

When I turn on the cryptocell the power consumption rises to 3.5mA. I turn it off using NRF_CRYPTOCELL->ENABLE = 0; but the current consumption does not go down. Its stays at 3.3mA

What am I missing?

Hi,

We have done some tests and not had this issue. Can you post your code so we can reproduce on our end? If your code is sensitive you can make a separate private case.

Well, i know that it sounds shitty, but i do not see any other option than use external uC with cryptographic engine.

May be in mass production release it will be fix in silicon.

Did you reboot transceiver after disabling CryptoCell?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried enabling/disabling the CryptoCell when it's needed, but current draw remains high even when turn it off.

Cryptocell always draw a bunch of energy, because of massive computing. Set a system timer and turn on Cryptocell accelerator when you need, this workaround slightly decreases overall system reaction (in my project i got 10-15% longer system response), but gives significantly more operation time from powersource.
