After setting up constant carrier, how can one determine that it is working. With no modulation the receiver can't determine anything, can it?

You need a spectrum/signal analyzer, both conducted and radiated will display the carrier. I strongly recommend conducted measurements though, as radiate have to many unknown variables.

You need to attach a semi-rigid coaxial 50ohm transmission cable to the output of the nRF24 filter/matching network. Take care to solder the coax outer conductor to ground as close to the center conductor feed point as possible. The center conductor shall not protrude more than 1mm out of the coax cable.

Cheers,

Håkon.
