First I'm new to these devices and BLE in general.
I am however very experienced at embedded design and Keil tools and ARM processors.
I have got the demo heart beat demo going.
I have seen the twi demo code.

you can write a custom service to expose a characteristic . The characteristic value will be your 8 bytes data. If you need a connection like a serial port look at Path : /sdk/nrf51_sdk_v6_0_0_43681/nrf51822/Board/pca10001/s110/experimental/ble_app_uart. A custom service example is in Nordic github github.com/.../nrf51-ble-app-lbs .

RE: i2c application

Thanks again cocoa.
I have read a good bit and gone through some of the example code.
To start with I want to try to send 8 bytes of data on a continuous basis and try to pick up the service using the app you gave me the link for.
Once I have this working I will add i2c reading and eventually some Xcode (well that's the plan).

Rather than writing from scratch I was going to modify some example code.
Which example would you recommend using or is there a better way? Thanks

RE: i2c application

If you want an app to test your software on iOS or simulate BLE hardware try this : itunes.apple.com/.../id557428110 , if link is broken goto itunes and search for lightblue

RE: i2c application

There are examples and guides at https://developer.apple.com (OS X and iOS examples, under corebluetooth ) in member center.

RE: i2c application

Thanks cocoa, do you know if there are any OSX Xcode examples?

RE: i2c application

Hi,

mac book pro 2014 has Bluetooth Low Energy communication interface built in, no dongle is needed to connect to a BLE device.

Mac Xcode has a native BLE support and framework to develop apps.
