The J1 connector is mainly used to measure the RF signals of the dev kit. If you want to enable communication between two dev kits without using Bluetooth (i.e. wired connection), I would take a look at <a href="https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.sdk5.v15.0.0/uart_example.html?cp=4_0_0_4_5_47" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">wired UART for example</a>.</p><div style="clear:both;"></div>
