The TI codec specifies the following expected clock frequencies for a sample rate of 16KHz and sample width of 16bits:
MCLK: 4.096MHz, BCLK: 1.024MHz, WCLK: 16KHz

It is strange that it requires BCLK twice as expected and I am checking with TI engineers on that. After some more testing, it actually seems to be working fine at the expected BCLK rate of 512KHz.

RE: I2S Double the SCLK

I'm a bit confused. The BCLK must be 16bit * LRCLK * 2(stereo) = 16 * 16kHz * 2 = 512kHz. If BCLK is 1MHz then you would need to use two clock cycles to transfer one bit, which makes no sense. What am I missing?

Are you using any alignment? (Width, alignment and format)

The nRF52 does not support hybrid mode.

RE: I2S Double the SCLK

Update: running nrf52 as slave and the AIC as master works but still produces random clicks.

RE: I2S Double the SCLK

Unfortunately the expected I2S clock frequencies in not in the datasheet for the TI AIC chip.
