I envisage to use beacon as anti-theft system:
When the beacon (inside the product to protect) will be near (2m) from the door, it will trig an alarm. So a receiver will be place near the door.
So, I would like to know if we can determine

RE: Need advice about beacon

Thank you Edvin.

RE: Need advice about beacon

Hello Arnaud,

I assume you are thinking of using the RSSI value to determine the distance to the door?

In general, RSSI is not very straight forward to use for distance measurements. It often depends on obstacles/environment, and the antenna, orientation of the device and so on. The best answer that I can give you is to do some testing to see if the RSSI is reliable enough to detect the ~2m threshold, and how difficult/easy it is to shield the signal with e.g. your hands/body.

Or maybe someone else in this forum has some experience with something similar?

Best regards,
