I really apologise for such long delay on the matter.

The reason for nrfutil not responding to requests might be due to incompatibility with newer versions of pyspinel. Pyspinel 1.0.0a1 worked fine. A fix has been already made.

The bug with NON messages being responded to with ACK message has also been fixed.

Both of these fixes are now being tested and might be coming shortly.

Hello Lukasz Duda ,

I captured the coap packets on thread network. It is strange that i haven't got any coap packet from dfu server(nrfutil). although i am being able to receive the coap packet of coap client (nrf52840-DK). Can you please point out the possible reason of this.

Lukasz Dudadid you guys fixed the bug you found in nrfutil's implementation ? we are facing exactly the same issue. It is throwing same error even after we set up node first and DFU server after that.

Yes, but we implemented it in our proprietary software. Anyway, the solution mentioned by Lukasz Duda should solve the issue in nrfutil.

Hello Krzysztof,

It looks that we have a bug in nrfutil's implementation of CoAP Server that we didn't spot due to different testing procedure (we first setup all nodes and then DFU Server).

In your logs we have spotted this line:

2018-04-25 10:45:55,295 Sending response, type = ACK (request type = NON)

Obviously ACKs should not be sent in response to NON request.

As you see this function does not check the type of the request. In the correct behavior the trigger message should be sent instead of ACK from a DFU Server.

The solution is to modify _handle_trigger_request method to response with either NON/CON unicast trigger to the source node or with multicast trigger if the request is of NON type.

We are welcoming contribution to nrfutil, else we will try to fix it in 1st/2nd week of June.

Hi,

I used all options like described here in Thread Secure DFU Example, i.e. option --family NRF52840 used but only while generating a bootloader settings HEX file.

Sorry for the late reply,

Are you using the family option NRF52840 or NRF52 with nrfutil? If you use the NRF52 option you will place the settings at 0x7f000 instead of 0xff000 for nRF52840.
