I don't think anything has changed since the last time this was discussed.

The USB developers are currently unavailable, but I will try to reach them tomorrow and get back to you with a definite answer.

I would also be very interested to see the CCID implementation for nRF52840!
Does Nordic SDK team have any plans for this?

Yes, the nRF52840 can satisfy all the requirements you list.

The main problem right now is that we don't have software support for CCID, so you would have to implement the class driver yourself.

Most likely it would be easier to use the CDC class files for reference, if you want to implement CCID, rather than starting out with HID:
