Have you tried out the Thingy:52? The FW is available here & the source code for the app is located here & here. The PDM should work out of the box with the Thingy app. This case may also be helpful.

Hello, I checked the firmware you pointed. Unfortunately, it is (almost) the same code. I'm waiting for Thingy:52 boards, will try to launch them and analyze the code execution. They should be in my hands today. :)

Have you taken a look at the Smart Remote 3 Firmware files? The SR3 also uses PDM & might do this in a different way to the Thingy:52 FW.
