&lt;p&gt;The only requirement is that you also populate a 10µH and a 15nH inductor between DCC and DEC4 pins (single 10µH for REG0 DC/DC).See the DC/DC option in the &lt;a href="http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.nrf52/dita/nrf52/pdflinks/ref_layout.html?cp=2_5"&gt;reference layout&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Once populated the DC/DC converter is then enabled either by writing to NRF_POWER-&amp;gt;DCDCEN if you are not using our Softdevice, or by calling&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.s140.api.v6.0.0/group___n_r_f___s_o_c___f_u_n_c_t_i_o_n_s.html?cp=2_3_2_1_0_2_7_2_13#ga84bd6a0e8f55a7aa85a5ec608edd61fe"&gt;sd_power_dcdc_mode_set()&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;if you are using the Softdevice. Once enabled, the power management unit will lautomatically configure the&amp;nbsp;power system for operation mode that is most efficient for the current load and active components.&lt;/p&gt;
