Please create a new case for your question. But I don't think there is anything you can remove to save more space except for increasing the optimization level.

Hello Hung Bui,

I got it running on the nRF52832 with SDK15.3 as Non-Debug version but I am wondering if it might be possible to get this Non-Debug version fit into the 24kB Flash which is resevred for the bootloader. Is there any known overhead regarding used drivers or something else which I could try to remove to save flash memory? If you could give me a hint it would be great.

I ran into this problem while trying this out, it's because the paths are all messed up. You just need to either redo all the paths or copy the pca10040_ble_uart_debug folder into <whatever path you have before this>\nRF5_SDK_15.2.0\examples\dfu\secure_bootloader and then it will build.

Were you able to resolve this issue? I am also stuck at trying to figure out how to get the ble transport layer to initialize. Currently we use a ble bootloader, but when we added the code for USB, only USB DFU works and ble fails to initalize and crashes, putting the board in a constant resetting state.

Hi Hung Bui,

I was also looking for similar functionality DFU over ble and uart for nrf52840 could you post an example for pca10056. I have also tried to look into this pca10040_ble_uart_debug_SDK15_2.zip. but this dosen't compile and shows error as nrf_log_backend_rtt.c: No such file or directory

I have a prototype that works. This is not an official version it has some quick dirty fix. We will try to release an update later on.

Please try and let me know if it works for you (SDK v15.2 , you need to generate your own public_key.c )

Do you have a working example for the S132 15.1 SDK the bootloader_secure_ble_serial.zip won't compile on the 15.1 SDK? and I would like to use the S132 6.0.0 SD

I have received the files. I'm trying to test here myself but it seems there are some issues that need to be solved that I didn't expect. We would need to have a few more days to look into this. I will let you know when we manage to have a working example.

I'm not sure what could be wrong here but could you step inside sdh_state_observer_notify() ? It's not a softdevice api, it's a normal function.

If you can provide the minimum modified version of the bootloader that you combine 2 transports that run on a DK then I can test here and check what could be wrong.

I stepped through and found the crash while performing ble_stack_init() in the ble_dfu_transport_init(). I can't step beyond sdh_state_observer_notify() in the nrf_sdh_enable_request() part of the ble_stack_init().

The trans->init_func() will call the init function registered by each transport layer. Could step in and check which error code is throwing out and the reason for that ?

On debugging further, I find that the crash occurs in the nrf_dfu_transports_init while calling the
ret_val = trans->init_func(observer);

I checked both USB and BLE transports are registered correctly and the DFU_TRANS_SECTION_ITEM_COUNT returns 2 as expected.

I don't think it's a problem having 2 transportation options in one DFU bootloader. Have you tried to combine them ?

You can find in nrf_dfu_transports_init() all transports are initialized in the function.

I have a similar requirement to use USB DFU in the factory, use background DFU over BLE in the field. Is there any pointer to achieve this?

I read that for background DFU, the Bootloader shouldn't initialize any of the transports however, I have the need to have these be initialized and then choose between a factory/RMA update vs. user/field update.

Appreciate any help.

It is possible to do, yes, but there is no example showing how to do it unfortunately.

How are you planning to switch between the two bootloader transports?
