Ok, if you go for

PC > (Serial) > nRF_1(Sender) > (BLE) > nRF_2(Target)

then you can use nrfutil without any modifications.

This is what I think is the configuration.

PC > (Ethernet or Serial) > nRF_1(Sender) > (BLE) > nRF_2(Target)

In our latest SDK, v15.0.0, you'll find the Secure DFU Bootloader over Serial Link (UART/USB) example, the link will explain how to set up the example for testing.

Unfortunately, we do not have any example in the SDK that relays the received firmware image to other nodes over BLE.

However, our pc-nrfutil tool uses a nRF5 IC as a connectivity device, i.e. communicates over a serial interface with the PC acting as the PCs BLE hardware and can be perform DFU.
