We're using SDK 12.3 on our application, and we're aware that the SDK is targeted to be event driven, meaning that our code should be the one keeping track of the connection status by using the propagate events.

However, the problem we're

RE: Check BLE connection status

Hi,

Unfortunately, there are no API you can use to get the connection status directly. But you could e.g. use sd_ble_gap_adv_start() and check the return code. You will get NRF_ERROR_INVALID_STATE if you are already advertising or NRF_ERROR_CONN_COUNT if you are in a connection (and cannot start another advertiser). Not very elegant though, and it probably won't work in multilink applications.
