Yes, it is possible to program the dongle using the DK.

On the DK there is a connector called Debug Out. You need a 10 pin segger cable that fits there, then connect this cable from the DK to the P1 pin headers. You would have to solder the programming pins on P1 (on the bottom side of the dongle).

Have a look at this post for more detailed information regarding programming the dongle.

RE: How to test Mesh using nRF52840 Dongle

Thank you Mttrinh,

Document says Dongle can program using programmer programming app or nrfutil

I tried to program dongle using DK board through programming interface(refer from hardware manual) but its not flashing. Is it possible to program dongle using DK board? or any other app support programming dongle

Have a look at this User Guide on how to program and use the nRF52840 Dongle. The dongle is the preferred hardware to be used with the nRF Connect for Desktop and can be used with nRF5 SDK for product development. But unfortunately, the Mesh SDK does not support the nRF52840 Dongle(PCA10059) as of now. You will need a development board to test the Mesh SDK. You can see which board are compatible here.

RE: How to test Mesh using nRF52840 Dongle

Thanks Martin ,

Using the examples in the Mesh SDK HERE , there should be little need to modify the code beyond removing multiple buttons etc. I woud suggest starting with the Beaconing example, and then continuing testing the Light Switch example. If you are ufamiliar with Segger Embedded Studio, I would suggest the getting started guide HERE.
I would suggest you take a look at the introduction to nRF5 SDK for Mesh HERE, and also go trough the Getting started tutorials on the same page.
