I am trying to implement long range mode for the ESB protocol.
For my understanding:

The mode register needs to be set to Ble_LR125Kbit
CRC incremented to 3 bytes
Configure the preamble to 10 bytes of 0x3C

Is it possible to make this

RE: ESB Long range

Hi,

I am closing this 5year old thread, one final comment: Nordic has not given up ESB, we are just not adding features beyond those that were part of the legacy nRF24L-series (I guess that's not entirely true, it's possible with packets longer than 32bytes now).

Coming back to eSB with 125kb-PHY, will the long range sample is still available?

It looks like Nordic as turned directly to BLE, and gave up the eSB.

What is nice with eSB compared to BLE is that the costly listing is not mandatory and sufficient for small volume project.

I expect the only thing you need to do is to change the MODE to Ble_LR125Kbit for both TX and RX:
http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.nrf52840.ps/radio.html?cp=2_0_0_5_19_13_11#register.MODE

This should ensure you can can send data from TX->RX, the problem will be if you also want to use ACK, since the timing will be considerably different. For instance the ESB library expect the ACK to be received within a few hundred us (don't remember the exact number), so this timeout waiting for ACK must be increased to possible several ms before it should retry again.

Best regards,
Kenneth
