You are correct awneil.

I would recommend that you create a "custom_board.h" file, then copy the contents of "pca10040.h" into the custom file and change the defines to your needs.

Hi yoavshtainer,

It does not matter if you change the defines in the pca10040 file or make a new config file.

You are able to change the different pins either way just by changing the defines.

(from the documentation: You can also enable support for another board by selecting a specific supported Nordic Semiconductor board or by defining a custom board.)

Ok, so if the example of ble-uart work when i configure it to pca10040, it's shell work for P06 and P08. But if i want that P12 and P11 pins i need to create my own config file?

Hi yoavshtainer,

The GPIOs are programmable, so if you want to use UART on different pins then you can just define that in the software.

This should be taken into consideration when choosing which pins to use.
