it all depends on how much time you can spare for the development. Implementing TFTP based DFU would be nicer but would take longer as there are limited features in SDK for you to support this. So you would implement most of it. The latter would be my choice to utilize the library API and make a simpler synchronous file system.

Thanks for your response. If this were to be started as a new implementation today, would you start off with TFTP based background DFU as the base with asynchronous file server handling requests from the DFU library or would it be rather simpler to have synchronous file-system read API calls from within the library?

We have not tried this in Nordic, but would be interesting to see if anyone out there tried it. Looking forward to know more.
