Most of the time the issue with debug & release build is related to debug logging. Check if you have any code inside a log function or rat function or assert. Verify also if possible the the actual slave address was written to the register.

I get the interrupt when I am in Segger Studio. Everything works great.

It is when I am running the release version that the secondary i2c address does not work.

seems like slave is not responding. Do you get the interrupt on the slave ?

Disabled same results. I2C master reports failure during the address probe NAK returned.

try disabling RTT to see what happen.
