Do you have a scope of the TWI communication?

Is VPP connected to VDD or GND?

When 0x4C is set as the second argument of nrf_drv_twi_rx (), it is confirmed that it is converted to 0x99 as a slave address. Also, if 0x4C is set as the second argument of nrf_drv_twi_tx (), it is confirmed to convert it to 0x98 as a slave address.

Are you sure that is the correct Slave Address, and that you are presenting it in the correct way - ie, left- or right-justified ?
