When you don&#39;t use Bluetooth Low Energy, or use a 3rd party implementation, such as nimble, there is no SoftDevice required.</p> <p>When you mention OTA update, this suggest you will use the Nordic&#39;s Bluetooth Bootloader, which requires the SoftDevice.&nbsp;</p><div style="clear:both;"></div>
