I tried the examples from the SDK and didn't experience any issues.

Could you try to flash the example again from the SDK after erasing the chip with nrfjprog command: nrfjprog --family nrf52 --eraseall

Old pairing keys might be saved on the chip which could cause the error.

Have you installed the external micro-ecc library that is required to calculate Elliptic Curve Cryptography keys?

Sorry, my reply was wrong. It referred to a similar post. We tested following examples:

- examples\ble_peripheral\experimental\ble_app_hrs_nfc_pairing
- examples\ble_peripheral\experimental\ble_nfc_pairing_reference
