I had to uninstall nrfutil 3.5.1 twice, then install nrfutil again to get to 4.0.0.

But it's running now.

I note a small typo. It prints a message to use Ctl+D to end. Should that be Ctl+C? Ctl+D does nothing, but Ctl+C causes the server to terminate.

Sorry for the delay, I have been traveling.

Could you please uninstall the older nrfutil 3.5.1 or any other versions you may have and run 'pip install nrfutil' from command prompt?

I confirmed that it installed the 4.0.0 version on my side when doing this.

Yes, this had already been done when I installed nrfutil 3.5.1.

I had installed it using vc_redist.x64.exe

I also tried installing using

pip install nrfutil

But it said that everything was already installed (because it found nrfutil 3.5.1)

Hi Mary,

Please make sure that you follow the exact steps in the installation guide.

From the documentation:

If you are running nrfutil on Windows, the runtime libraries targeted during the library build must be present when running code using the library. The following errors indicate that the runtime libraries are not available:

Missing MSVC*120.DLL or MSVC*140.DLL
RuntimeError: Could not load shared library <path>/pc_ble_driver_shared.dll : '[Error 193] %1 is not a valid Win32 application

In this case, install the redistributable installer for Visual Studio 2013 or Visual Studio 2015, respectively. Select the version that corresponds to the architecture of your Python installation (x86 or x64).
