The same thing occurred to me. I was using Virtual Box as VM. Finally, When it shows "Waiting for emulator to attach... ", I checked the "SEGGER JLink" from the Device->USB menu. That got it updated successfully. Maybe that's because JLink detached from VM.

I'm having the same issue like the USB dongle not getting detected and the LEDs also not working can you please more specific how to use J-Link Configurator

Are you able to test it on a non virtual Win7 computer then? Just so we know if it is the VM that causes the problem or the dongle itself.

There is a program called J-link Configurator that is included in the J-link software pack. Here you can manually try to update the firmware.

In fact there isn't a new devices in Ports (COM & LPT), only 2 new devices in Universal Serial Bus contollers named USB Root Hub, which I uninstall, plug the dongle again with the same result 2 new USB Root Hubs, then I install again Setup_JLink_V491c but the dongle is not detected

Hi Stian, I did and several times and the drivers are installed and the dongle recognized by the computer, I plug the dongle, the green led flash for 1 second and then it remains ON, but there is no way to be recognized for the Master Control Panel, nor the nRFgo Studio where I only see the evaluation segger board. The same thing happened to me. I manually uninstalled the J-link USB and COM port driver in Device manager, pulled out the dongle, restarted the computer, plugged it back in. The drivers automatically reinstalled. And it worked. Maybe you did the same thing, but anyways, I don't think the dongle is bricked, it's just some driver issue.

Also, you can try to open nRFgo Studio as the first program after you reinstalled the drivers. I've had more success with firmware updates there for some reason...
