Probably there is something that wasn't initialized correctly. Look at the stack trace (left top windows of the debug perspective). Back trace to which was the last function causing the exception. You can then post a new question in the forum about it.

Ah, cool. I put a breakpoint in the app_error_handler and the program went there. What should I do next? Not quite sure how to interpret the results the debugger is giving me - error_code is 0xDEADBEEF (generic), and it says line_num = 1377, and p_file_name is src\rem.c - a file which is not in my project...here's a screen grab.

There might be an error code returned before it reaches you LED which case an exception. Try to locate app_error_handler some where. Either put break point there or LED see if that was the problem.

Pretty much - I am using the eclipse ARM plugins, as well as the eclipse project template I mentioned in original post, as I am using a dev kit and code written for the PCA10001 which is similar to the board Im using (PCA10003). So I'm not using your EHAL source tree. Thing seems to be compiling fine though, but it freezes when going into that keys_send function. Even when I'm not using a debugger and just try to turn on an LED in that function....it just never gets there.

Did you follow the reference on my blog to setup the plugins? Kepler works fine for me on OSX but have not try Yosemite yet.

It's an intermittent problem. some time it works but lots of time i doesn't. Some time you can start fine, then suddenly goes hey-wire.

Hmm, that's distressing. It seems to work fine with a normal blinky example...I can set breakpoints and step, etc.

Luna and the Arm plugins have issue with debug. see here embeddedsoftdev.blogspot.ca/.../eclipse.html
