I have exactly the same question - Ubuntu; I can not believe Nordic 1. can not duplicate this issue. 2. cannot imagine a better solution allowing me to change the code, program it and quickly and test the power consumption without unplugging boards or switching a finicky switch - It's a development kit... This (PPK) is a very disappointing application...

Yes, I unplug the DK, I plug in a separate Jlink, re-program my device, unplug the jlink, re-plug the DK and device, then I try to connect to PPK.

I haven't touched that switch. It appears that the default is towards DK and it's still there. (It's lined-up with the white line)

Here is what I did:

Step 1 - skipped cutting traces on the DK because I measure the current of an external device (not the DK)

Step 2 - installed the PPK on top of the DK

Step 3 - Connected USB cable to DK

Step 4 - Set the switches for the external DUT

Step 5 - Installed nRF Connect

Step 5b - Installed PPK application in nrf Connect

Step 6 - Started the PPK application

Stap 7 - I connect to COM17 (that's the com port of my DK)

Step 8 - when prompted to flash the firmware, I accepted.

The steps above follow pretty much the Quick start guide (Very little can go wrong; it's pretty simple)

At anytime I need to re-use the PPK, I follow these steps:

Step 1 - I plug in my device under test,

Step 2 - I connect the computer to the DK

Step 3 - I turn on the power switch on the DK.

Step 4 - I start the PPK application

Step 5 - I connect to COM17 using the top left dropdown

Step 6 - IF it connects successfully, I start using the DK.

Step 6 is usually where it fails. On average, I need to connect/disconnect to com17 between 5 and 10 times before it will successfully connect. Once connected and running for a few seconds, it rarely fails.

What steps did you do when you flashed the application and the PPK firmware?
