I forwarded your suggestion to the SDK team and I got the following answer:

"Thanks for a good suggestion. We are aware of the advantages of Kconfig and we are using this in our new Zephyr RTOS based SDK which is under development https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/0.3.0/nrf/index.html . This SDK is still not very mature, and the BLE support there is limited and not something we would recommend for developing actual products at this time. However our experience with Kconfig and CMake instead of the sdk_config.h and makefiles is very positive. We can't promisse anything, but it's a technology we have positive experience with and will keep in mind going forwards in our SDK development."

Best Regards,
