Thanks Bjorn, yes, I think I found this last night. "gps_sim" is the "GPS simulator" API; I'm hoping that when the final version is released they consider GPS timing use cases. GPS is not just for location! It is also widely used for timing; it would be a real shame if the integrated GPS functions were unusable in our product and we had to add an external part..

I have checked the Objective Product Specification & there was no mention of the PPS signal. Therefore, I do not believe this is available in the API at the moment. Take a look at the gps_sim.c & the gps.h file in the asset tracker example in the Nordic Connect SDK for more info.

I'm very interested in the PPS signal for time synchronization between devices. Is this available in the API? Where is the GPS API (even if it's still preliminary)?

In Section 8 of the Objective Product Specification v0.7.1, it says that GPS "operation is time multiplexed with the LTE modem". From what I understand, that means that the GPS can still be used, it just must share the timeslot with the modem (they must synchronize their respective communications over shared HW I guess).
