The sniffer firmware interfaces with the computer by using the Segger J-link chip on the DK(The chip with the white sticker on). The Segger Jlink chip acts as a UART to USB CDC ACM bridge (virtual com port). A UART to USB CDC ACM bridge is currently needed in order to use the sniffer. We are doing some preliminary work on adding support for the nRF52840 dongle in the sniffer, and using the built-in USB on the nRF52840 instead, but when or if this will be released is still unknown.

Are you referring to a custom board? Or the nRF52840-DK ?
