Hello again. Based on these new links I set my CI scripts to use the download link for version 10.2.0 from this page. Today, I found that this version is no longer available, only 10.2.1. Additionally, the structure of the links changed - whereas the other day the folder the file were in began with nRF5-, it now seems to begin with nRF-. Will this stabilize at some point?

Hi Fredrik,

the CLT are getting a similar actvie download link as here:
https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-Tools/Software/S112/Download#infotabs

Where e.g. the individual link for S112 that appears at the bottom of the page looks like this:
https://www.nordicsemi.com/-/media/Software-and-other-downloads/SoftDevices/S112/s112nrf52700.zip

As you can see, the link will still depend on the filename of the download.
It's not getting anymore static than that since we maintain version history in the filenames.

It appears the download method has changed yet again. The following should work for a short while until the next backend update.

v10.1.1 Linux64:

wget --post-data 'fileid=D7FC735D0A494EC79F5840EDD05947F8' --header='content-type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded' www.nordicsemi.com/api/sitecore/Products/DownloadPlatform -O nrftools_10.1.1.tar.gz

v9.8.1 Linux64:

wget --post-data 'fileid=8F19D314130548209E75EFFADD9348DB' --header='content-type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded' www.nordicsemi.com/api/sitecore/Products/DownloadPlatform -O nrftools_9.8.1.tar.gz

The only difference between the two is the `fileid` field. If you need a different version, open your browser's developer tools and manually download the file you want. The `fileid` should be listed somewhere among the headers.

Any update on the static links, esivertsen?

Hello,

With the release of nRF Command Line Tools 10.1.1, this URL has broken and I seem unable to get the new one for either version 9.8.1 or version 10.1.1. Has there been any progress in implementing static download links? I am also using nordic tools in dockerfiles and need the ability to download them from the command line.

Hey guys,

yep Fredrik has found a smart way of doing this. That should work for everyone who needs to set up automation for the moment.
Going forward, we'll implement static links for the downloads - that can be copied and pasted without Chrome DevTools :)

I also have a few dockerfiles dependent on Nordic CLI tools, and every so often I have to dig out the new download URLs for exactly this purpose. Today, the following URL seems to work (assuming 64 bit linux):

wget https://www.nordicsemi.com/-/media/Software-and-other-downloads/Desktop-software/nRF5-command-line-tools/sw/nRF-Command-Line-Tools_9_8_1_Linux-x86_64.tar

For reference, what I usually do is find the download links on nordicsemi.com (here https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-Tools/Development-Tools/nRF5-Command-Line-Tools), and use the developer tools in Chrome to see the request URL used when clicking "download".

This is by no means optimal, and I wish Nordic would make their development tools accessible through static and predictable URLs. Please?
