i have noticed that when I restart the device it then restart again due to WDT enabled in app. So I have enabled it in DFU. After restarting back to dfu it won't do the serial printing on RTT. Any idea?

Hi Hung,

It does get in to dfu loader. I have confirmed this by blinking LEDs in DFU. I have made the changes to check GPREGRET but it is not reading GPREGRET.

When I write 0x01 to GPREGRET register and do NVIC_SystemReset(); It restarts from the app again.

(WDT is enabled during this process)

Note that on SDK v12 we write to bootloader setting, instead of write to GPREGRET register. I think writing to GPREGRET is a cleaner way of doing this.

In SDK 13 we used GPREGRET not in SDK v12 (in SDK 12 we write to bootloader setting in flash). But if you want to use GPREGRET instead, it's not too hard to modify the bootloader code to check for that, please have a look at nrf_dfu_enter_check() function in nrf_dfu.c

You are correct. FS_PAGE_END_ADDR was 0x80000. So I have moved it to away from bootloader region. Its working ok. Thanks For your help.

Also for bottonless dfu for sdk12 I have read your blog and just want to confirm when setting GPREGRET register and after soft restart, do I need to read same register in bootloader dfu aswell?

In your app do you have any flash operation ?

It looks like you are editing the bootloader setting page in your app.

Please make sure fstorage has the location of flash located bellow the bootloader. This is defined in FS_PAGE_END_ADDR that we used in fs_init(). To make sure the if we have a bootloader we relocated the flash area for application under the bootloader, not to mess up with the bootloader data.

Hi Hung,

I have changed the target settings of app and now its running ok.

One thing I have noticed that when I restart my device it start from dfu again. (I am using your bootloader and when I restart hrs or blink app then it start at app not dfu) This shows some thing is missing in my app. Where should I look at? Thanks

Hi Wasil,

Yes, you can do that. But it's better to figure out what caused the issue.

In addition, even with my bootloader you still can't update your application ? You can try to debug your application (with the bootloader ) and check what throwing the error.

I have checked hrs example that you sent with my bootloader and same result. I did make a change in nrf_dfu_utils.c but same results.

I have also tried with new s332 hex you sent me but no Luck :-(

Glad to hear Wasil, this meant a normal application should work fine.

Could you try to update one of the application (for S332) in the SDK with your own bootloader ? (with the fix I proposed)

Or you can use the image of the hrs example that I attached here.

If that works with your bootloader we would need to look into your application to check why it crashed at pstorage init.

Do you do any flash operation that modify the application firmware ? Can you step into the code and check why pstorage init crashed ?

If you can't get to pstorage init and it's stuck at DFU bootloader, you can check and send me the RTT log of the bootloader.

I have attached the tests for you. Also I have tried my app on this SD + bootloader and it actually initialise the ble and ant but it restarted after pStorage init and then jump back to dfu bootloader. Definitely improvement :-)

New blinky package works fine and when I restart the device it jump straight to app again unlike before it start again from dfu bootloader.

New hrs package didn't work.

Hi Stark,

I have been testing here and actually found a bug in the bootloader (after 4 hours :( ). We used wrong size of data when doing nrf_dfu_flash_store() inside nrf_dfu_app_continue() in nrf_dfu_utils.c. It should be like this:

ret_val = nrf_dfu_flash_store((uint32_t*)target_addr, (uint32_t*)src_addr, cur_len/sizeof(uint32_t), NULL);

It may not be related to the issue you are having now, but it's worth to try again.

Could you please do the same test (reading out hex files) with the following images. Please flash the softdevice and bootloader that's included in this .zip file and update blinky and then update hrs.

Thanks for clarifying the IC variant. I 'm using the same chip here.

Could you please use the files I sent and read out the whole flash using this command:

nrfjprog --readcode filename.hex

Please try to read the flash when:

- After you flashed softdevice and bootloader (please use what I sent you on 7Mar.zip)

- After you DFU updated the blinky image I sent you in the .zip ( I assume it worked )

- After you DFU update the hrs example I sent you in the package_hrs.zip. (I assume it doesn't work)

Using that data I can compare with what I have here, theoretically it should be identical with what I have here (which works) if it's not we can try to figure out why.

Also I tried dfu on s132 and it uploads and run my app without any issue. Its just s332v2.0 causing issue.
