I don’t see any issues with the way you are doing things. As long as:

1) UICR.NRFFW[0] is not set

2) 0x1000 is not empty (not 0xFFFFFFFF)

3) The value on address 0xFFC is 0xFFFFFFFF (Starting from MBR version 2.4.x / SDK 15.3, see this post)

Then the MBR will boot to 0x1000
