I see that this is an issue in IAR when you diable optimization in this project. You can try with another example that doesn't use this pragma thing. E.g. the ble_app_uart_c example. It uses the same nrf_ble_scan.c file, so you only need to adjust the main.c.

RE: scan filters for custom uuid is not matching

Can you please study the adv_uuid_compare() function, which is what we are looking at, so that you understand how it works.

Also, can you please answer me the following (Just because if you are having some problems with any of these points, I can help you by showing how to do them)

1: Are you sure you managed to turn off optimization?

2: Are you completely sure that the uuid that you are looking for is in the advertisement? Having the service enabled in your peripheral project does not necessarily mean that it is in the advertisement.

3: Are you sure all_filters_mode = false?

When you hit (if you hit) ble_advdata_uuid_find(), and you hover the mouse over all_filters_mode, does it say a value? if so, what?

If you try to remove all filters except the one you know that is present, does ble_advdata_uuid_find() return true?

I see that this may be a bit difficult to debug, as you have a few challenges:

1: When debugging, you are not sure what advertisement packet you are seeing. Maybe there is another device advertising nearby (a computer, a phone, headset, or something else). If you know what address the device you are testing on has (the peripheral), you can filter on this manually first. E.g. befre going into adv_uuid_compare, check if one of the fields in the advertising address is correct. You can check the address in nRF Connect. Let us say it ends with 0x1b, then you can say:

#if (NRF_BLE_SCAN_UUID_CNT > 0)
    // Check the UUID filter.
    if (uuid_filter_enabled && p_adv_report->peer_addr.addr[0] == 0x1b)
    {
        filter_cnt++;
        if (adv_uuid_compare(p_adv_report, p_scan_ctx))
        {
            filter_match_cnt++;
            // Information about the filters matched.
            scan_evt.params.filter_match.filter_match.uuid_filter_match = true;
            is_filter_matched = true;
        }
    }
#endif

I don't remember if nRF Connect shows addr[0] or addr[5] as the least significant byte. Try both.

But please answer 1, 2 and 3.

RE: scan filters for custom uuid is not matching

I meant this line-  uuid_match_cnt++

RE: scan filters for custom uuid is not matching

Thanks Edvin.
Yes. When you are working with the softdevice, you have to restart the application after hitting a breakpoint, because halting the CPU causes the softdevice to miss time critical events and tasks, so it will crash. When you hit this, you then have to go to the definition of this function, remove the old breakpoint, and set a new breakpoint inside this function. Then restart the application. Remember to also turn off optimization in your compiler while debugging such things. It makes it a bit easier, and you will be able to see the values of different variables when you have stopped.

I couldn't open the project properly. It is missing almost every file, and IAR (which is what you are using right?) can't find the include paths for the project.

But let's go a couple of steps back. Are you hitting the adv_uuid_compare in nrf_ble_scan.c? Are you hitting line 500 in this file? uuic_match_cnt++ ? If so, are you entering the if (!all_filters_mode) -> break; ? Or what happens?

I agree to devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../BLE_5F00_Application.zipyour point but my requirement is to start with peripheral example.

attached zip file of project folder and you may need to add SDK libraries and driver files to the project .

RE: scan filters for custom uuid is not matching

But your files, ble_cus.h and ble_cus.c are peripheral files. They set up services and characteristics. Also, I get a bunch of compiling erros when I just replace your files. Only missing files, but it is easier if you could send the project. Just remove all build files. Your zipped folder is probably too big. the build folder inside your project is a very significant size, compared to source code.

I really recommend that you start with a central example from the ble_central folder. The ble_app_uart_c example from this folder filters on UUIDs. Try this one.

If you want to send the project, remove the build files/folder, and give some instructions on how to test. What should I advertise with for your project to scan for?
