There was a similar thread on the ARM Keil forum recently; the behaviour with float/double is actually C's defined behaviour - not specific to GCC or Nordic or even ARM.

Hi Øyvind, I wanted to ask if anyone had the chance to look into that yet? We are using it in our released software, but we've never really evaluated the ramifications.
