I am new to this forum, and can be described as a programmer with very little embedded experience.
I have bought a nRF51822 BT SMART BEACON KIT, and are trying to figure out if it is possible to reprogram this devise using a PC with BT4.0 USB

RE: Programming a nRF51822 BT SMART BEACON KIT using hci_dfu_send_hex

I am very happy about that you are making progress. I set the project/options for target nRF51822_xxAA "Read/Only Memory Areas" and "Read/Write Memory Areas" to equal the settings for the C:\Nordic Semiconductor\nRF51822 Beacon v1.0.1\Source Code\Nordic\nrf51822\Board\nrf51_beacon\pca20006\ble_app_beacon_bcs\arm project.
I also changed the program to use LED 4 and 7, which make the blue and green LED start blinking.

RE: Programming a nRF51822 BT SMART BEACON KIT using hci_dfu_send_hex

Hi Stefan, and thank you for the tread link. I think I found the answer to my question in this thread; In order to program the device with a new application, I must upload the .hex file to an android/apple device, and use the Rf Tolbox App to program the device. I.e. Over-The-Air (OTA) Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) cannot be done using a PC, but can be done using the Rf Toolbox App running on a mobile phone/tablet.

RE: Programming a nRF51822 BT SMART BEACON KIT using hci_dfu_send_hex

Hi Dag

I recommend for you to look at the user guide for the Beacon kit if you have not already, available here.
