This is a general question about iOS app distribution, but it regards our use of Bluetooth Mesh. I know it is each company's own responsibility to make sure they comply with regulation, but I'd like a hint at what is required.
yes, I've been in contact with Apple. They also don't want to touch the issue since it's between you, the app developer/distributor and the US regulatory bodies. Apple provided some information though (part of which is also discussed in the Medium article I referred to). There seems to be quite some exemptions, but they may still come with requirements on your part. For example if you're using open source encryption software, it *may* be enough for you to send a mail to the right US agency, possibly on a regular basis. I'm not sure, perhaps if you only used the open source OpenSSL(-Universal) libraries for iOS, they may be enough to refer to in a mail, but don't quote me on that! Here are some possibly useful links:

We don't really support general issues regarding iOS application distribution.

Looking at our release, I couldn't find any declaration of such, so I really can't recommend anything.

I can only suggest that you try contacting Apple's support. Or simply try publishing the application, and get a response from Apple about what might be missing.

I'm sorry if that wasn't of much help.

Best regards,
Joakim
