Anantha Keshava: The Background DFU library exposes a common API for the following tasks:

Transferring the new firmware to flash memory.
Validating checksum for each block of the firmware.
Triggering a swap procedure by entering the bootloader context.

Currently, the only allowed operation is an application update. I do not know if SD and/or BL updates will supported in future releases.

Interesting. I had actually never seen the IoT libraries in the SDK since it isn't my area of expertise, but it's pretty cool to see that such things are supported!

Please refer to www.nordicsemi.com/.../lib_background_dfu and www.nordicsemi.com/.../background_dfu_bootloader from the documentation. It's a means by which the application can perform firmware update with a double bank DFU. Further there are examples in the IoT under tftp to demonstrate background DFU on nRF5 series.

What do you mean with background DFU support? I've never heard of that. Can you point me to the documentation of that feature?
