Thanks Stefan, I tried it over the air, writing the softdevice did not work there. So I used the J-Link tool and the instruction you suggested. First flashed the softdevice S110 v7 with nRFgo. Seems to work ok. Than added my blinky led application to see if its working. Start address of my app 0x16000. custom_board.h created and BOARD_CUSTOM set as a define. It seems the app is not running (well), and the debugger will stop without breakpoint set at 0xFFFFFFE, and while stepping, reaches 0x0000C0 and starts again at at 0xFFFFFFE. So it seems the device stopped in the softdevice region? (I was unable to flash bootloader from nRF51 SDK v6.1.0 yet). Any hints?

Perhaps this thread and this thread will inform a bit about the capabilities of the Beacon kit.

Update 27.11.2014 When you flash the blinky exemple from the SDK, you should not use the S110 softdevice for that. Only use the BLE S110 softdevice when you want to use BLE and then choose a dedicated BLE example that works with the softdevice. When you use a bootloader, you should flash first softdevice, then bootloader, then you can use a DFU controller on a central device to upload application via the bootloader, e.g. Master Control Panel or nRF Toolbox for Android or IOS. Perhaps it would be useful to read the User Guide for either evaluation kit or the development kit, the Quick Start chapter.
