We use two nrf52840 : on inside the remote and another in the system to control. The remote is used as a peripheral and the system is running as a central device. In between advertising the device is already in system-on low power mode otherwise the power consumption would be higher still. When you are looking at several 100-s of uA as in your case, there are peripherals (SPI, TWI, UART, etc) that are not disabled. Try to look whether this is the case. Furthermore, you would want to make sure that all the pins are in their default state because floating pins also might consume power. Also, make sure that you have disconnected the debug connector.
Hope this helps.
