&lt;p&gt;Yes, the IC can take damage from electrostatic discharge. We can however not say surely every possible case in which it will take damage, and every possible case it will not take damage. Generally you would want to use antistatic bags for transporting to just remove the risk.&lt;/p&gt;

Unfotunately there is ESD protection or warning mentioned in the datasheet or product pdf. This is very strange. Usually is this mentioned with package info.
