Hi Alan,

No, the modem firmware can be updated through one of the UART interfaces that are emulated over the virtual com port of the nRF91 DK.

Hi Alan,

you could try to update the modem firmware on your nRF9160 DK if you are still running the DK with the factory programmed firmware. You can download the latest modem firmware from the Downloads Tab on the nRF9160 Product page.

The instructions on how to perform the modem firmware update is explained in the README in the downloadable .zip file.
