Yes, radio triangulation has been available for decades with directional antenna.

The same could be applied here for even greater accuracy.

Why do you specifically need to use BLE 5.1? Other RTLS solutions are available - and have been for some time.

Again, it is important that you discuss this with your tutors!

Only they can advise you whether this is actually going to be a realistic project for you with the time & resources you have - and within the other constraints of your course.

So specifically you wish to use the direction finding capability of 5.1.

Please bear in mind that this is a very new standard and as you have discovered there isn't a lot of support for it as yet.

So here's some questions:

Do you need the level of accuracy that 5.1 purports to give for distance and direction estimation?

Would the use of two or more cheaper, more readily available and better supported devices to triangulate the location through RSSI measurement give you sufficient accuracy? Two would give you direction, three would give you the location in 3 dimensions.

Engineering is about solving problems with the resources at your disposal.

The reason for choosing Bluetooth 5.1 is because I can select the position in a narrow space.
It was not until Bluetooth 5.1 that the exact location function was updated.
So I was forced to use nRF52811.

It may well be that they wish to use direction finding, but as you point out just selecting 5.1 as their plan isn't going to get them very far.

The one point to bear in mind is that some of the 5.1 improvements over 5.0 will be down to the SoftDevice and as yet I don't think Nordic have a certified 5.1 stack, neither is there any development kit for the 28511, so the point is moot.

The 52840 includes support for Bluetooth 5.0, with a certified stack and third party, certified, modules are now in the market place. I couldn't say whether it is capable of full 5.1 support given the right software stack.

As you point out the basis for any project is to not only decide upon what you what to achieve, but determine whether it is realistic given the hardware available.

I would also point out that if the intention is to test or interface this project with a mobile app. then the limiting factor for the supported Bluetooth standard will be the smartphone.

Since leeseungwoo mentions nRF52811, maybe it's the range-finding features (s)he's specifically interested in...?

There isn't a devkit for nRF52811 yet, and the software support isn't complete, either.

You should discuss this with your tutors - it's possible that nothing will be available in your time-frame, so you may need to reconsider ...

That's not a project plan! That's just mentioning a technology that you intend to use.

If you gave a description of your goal - what you're actually trying to achieve - people may be able to make better suggestions.
