Received a reply from a colleague: "NRF52840 dongle does not have on board debugger supporting the serial interface. It directly connects to USB with the help of firmware. So, I don’t anticipate that this will be straight forward."

I will mention this internally as a feature request, but I am not sure if & when this will be implemented. You can contact your local Regional Sales Manager to push them to add this as a feature request too.

When the firmware for dongle will be available?
It will be much more simple solution, that DK.

At the moment, there is no FW working for the 52840 dongle. As of now, you'll have to use a DK with the serial example to get interactive PyACI to work.
