Hi,

I just got the update from the engineer that:

You are using an old engineering version of the DK (version 9.3.0) which might not work with nRF Connect. You could use a new one with the production version of the nRF52840. See this page.

Sorry to take so long to reply. No update, I'm still having the issue and gave up on nRF Connect.

Hi,

The only thing I can think of is that the firmware on the debugger-bridge is incompatible with windows for some reason. Could you try the following steps, and see if the CDC driver is successfully loaded?

1. Uninstall all Segger JLink installations

2. Remove the "JLink CDC UART Port" device, and check to delete the driver when this window pops up.

3. Power off your nRF-DK, hold in the "IF BOOT/RESET", then power it back up. Now it should show up as "BOOTLOADER".

4. Download one of the older JLink firmware https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-Tools/Development-Kits/nRF52840-DK/Download#infotabs (The "Interface MCU Firmware" image is the first file.), and copy the .bin file over to the MassStorageDevice named "BOOTLOADER"

5. Install a version of the JLink from this site (the 6.44e for 2.7.0/ 6.22 for 2.6.0), click "older versions" to see the list.

I have now tried uploading each of the pca100056 hex files onto my nRF52840 DK and tried them with the nRF Connect BLE App, yet I still get the exact same error message.

Hi,

I tried all of these solutions, and none of them seemed to change anything. I think that the nRF Connect for Desktop application doesn't include the required .hex files for the connectivity firmware. I've searched all through the program files and haven't found anything resembling the firmware file required.

Edit: I have searched the web far and wide for this connectivity firmware and cannot find a .hex file anywhere. I found a GitHub repo for compiling it myself, but I am not familiar enough with CMAKE to get it work, among other problems. Can I just get the connectivity firmware hex? That's all I need to get on with my project.

The link should be https://www.segger.com/downloads/jlink/JLink_Windows_V644e.exe.

If it still cannot work, I would suggest revert to nRF Connect for Desktop devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../nrfconnectsetup260.exe + J-Link v6.22 ( https://www.segger.com/downloads/jlink/JLink_Windows_V622.exe ).

Please let me know that can help or not.

Hello,

I installed J-link from the link you provided. It calls itself v6.44g though. Is that a problem?

After installing I restarted my PC and reopened nRF Connect to receive the same error as before. However, this time when connecting my nRF52840 DK board, I received this pop-up.

Hi,

v2.7.0 needs J-link v6.44e. Please check and update the J-link firmware version, and then repeat the steps again.

I followed your instructions and received no pop-up. I even selected my device (dongle) and got the same behavior as before. Am going to update the nRF Connect app to v2.7.0. Will report back.

Edit:
I updated to v2.7.0. I closed the app, ran "$ nrfjprog -e" and reopened Connect. I received a the same error again:

Hi,

Can you do a nrfjprog -e in CMD and open the Bluetooth Low Energy Application and click yes on the pop up which asks if you want to program the device?

Click yes on this window.
