i am trying to make a project based on detection using ble 5 on raspberry pi 3.
plz help me with selecting correct and most appropriate ble 5 dongle for good range and fast speed.

RE: does nrf52840 has ble 5. is it compatible with raspberry pi3?
the Raspberry Pi3 doesn't support BLE 5
But the actual development will be much easier on a Dev Kit!

RE: does nrf52840 has ble 5. is it compatible with raspberry pi3?

Hi

As Andrew says, the Raspberry Pi3 doesn't support BLE 5. But if you want BLE 5 USB Dongles based on the nRF52840 anyway, check out Fanstel, Raytac, and/or our own nRF52840 Dongle. Please note that our Dongle is not optimized for range, and is to be considered a development tool. I assume both Fanstel and Raytac probably have better optimized solutions for an actual product, although the Nordic Dongle will be easier to develop on.

Best regards,

devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../153430

The Product Specification tells you what BLE 5 features are supported.

What, exactly, do you mean by "compatible with raspberry pi3"

The nRF52840 has a number of interfaces which are available on the RPi3 - UART, USB, SPI, I2C.

The Raspberry Pi3 has a BCM43438 wireless LAN and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) chip:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-3-model-b/

That is only BLE 4.1:
