I would use the link I sent you as the primary example code. It may also be useful to download the Thingy:52 FW code to see how the motion sensor (9 axis gyro & accelerometer) is initialized & used.

Take a look at this youtube video, which explains the process well. In the description, you can find the link to the source code that is running on the Thingy:52. You can easily flash this on the Thingy:52 using a 52 DK with P19 with a 10 pin cable or via another Segger J-Link device.
